Replacing LIBOR

LIBOR is the most widely used index in the financial markets and it is slated to be phased out in 2021 and replaced with SOFR (Secured Overnight Funding Rate).  SOFR is very different versus LIBOR.  The implications to our municipal clients are widespread impacting bond documents, swaps and swap documents, LOCs, investment agreements, etc.  The presentation will include a comparison of LIBOR versus SOFR, the planned
protocol which will govern the conversion and possible risk mitigation strategies.

Foreign demand for Munis
Reach for yield initially attracted the foreign buyer to the US Municipal market over the past several years with some estimates that foreign ownership and participation has more than doubled in the past decade. It is likely that global interest will continue as investors get more exposure to the absolute return benefits of municipals.
